Eucommia ulmoides is a Traditional Chinese Medicine that has been recommended for vitality enhancement and longevity. It is a collection of flavonoids (ones that are fairly common in the plant world) as well as both lignans and irioid compounds (both of which are not unique to this plant, but tend to be less common).
Some animal-based research indicates that the lignans found in eucommia may also help with blood pressure management.

In the latter, it has been found to exert hypoglycemic, hypolipidemic, antibacterial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory effects. DM is a metabolic disease caused by abnormal insulin function and characterized by hyperglycemia.
