Chaga grows as a fungus on living Birch trees. Most typically found on Birch trees older than 40 years, the fungus results from a symbiotic infection. Once infected, it takes about 5 years until the Chaga can be harvested. During this time, the Chaga Mushroom actively draws nutrients from the tree, using them for its own growth and development.
The chemical components of Chaga extract include polysaccharides, inotoxin, inonotol, and various oxidized triterpenoids. The SOD (superoxide dismutase) contained in it is 55 times of Ganoderma lucidum, 23 times of Brazilian mushroom, 318 times of Phellinus linteus, 25 times of Hericium erinaceus, 31 times of Maitake mushroom.
